We are looking for a safety officer who wants to lead and develop safety work in an organization where security is crucial – for both patients and staff.

About us

Forensic Psychiatry Care Stockholm provides forensic psychiatric care in Stockholm County and has about 550 employees distributed across two sections. The operations are located at Helix, Karolinska University Hospital in Huddinge and Löwenströmska Hospital in Upplands Väsby. Our mission includes receiving individuals who, under the influence of severe mental disorder, have committed crimes and have been handed over to care by the court according to the law on forensic psychiatric care. We also have county-wide responsibility for patients from the Swedish Prison and Probation Service who need forensic psychiatric care. About the role

As the safety officer, you are the clinic's safety strategist and a key person in the work of creating a robust safety culture. You lead and develop the systematic safety work and are an important support to the operations manager, managers, and safety coordinators in both strategic and operational matters. Here you will face challenges that range from physical safety in high-risk environments to strategic planning for future healthcare facilities.

Examples of responsibilities

  • Design and drive the clinic's safety strategy, including dynamic and static safety.
  • Be responsible for disaster medical preparedness, fire protection, and continuity planning.
  • Conduct investigations in the event of safety deficiencies and initiate improvements.
  • Manage procurement and insurance issues, e.g., requirements for security technology procurements.
  • Represent the clinic in internal and external networks as well as in contact with security and safety providers.
  • Participate in and conduct training in the field of safety.
  • Have strategic monitoring of safety issues.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with relevant higher education and documented experience in safety work with overall responsibility. You have several years of experience in both strategic and operational safety work, preferably within politically governed organizations or other complex operations. You have good knowledge of and experience in project management, for example within construction projects and procurement. You have experience in developing security systems, technical installations, and location-related issues. Experience in crisis management, preparedness planning, and leadership in high-risk environments is an advantage.

You are analytical, structured, and have the ability to see the big picture. You are confident in your skills, unpretentious, and have a collaborative approach. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

For this position, we work with ongoing selection. We apply drug testing in connection with employment.

Employment form

Permanent employment. Full-time, 39.5 hours/week. Start date according to agreement. A probationary period may be applied. The position is filled on the condition that it is not needed for internal relocation, according to applicable regulations.

For patient-related work within the Stockholm County healthcare area:

  • background checks will be applied before the employment decision according to SLSO's overarching guidelines for background checks during employment.
  • employees who will have patient contact must undergo a pre-employment health examination, according to applicable directives, which is done through occupational health services before employment.
  • in addition to Swedish professional licensing, good knowledge of the Swedish language corresponding to level C1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) is required. The same requirements are guiding for non-licensed staff with patient contact.
